status of education in chile

Today the education in Chile is a controversial topic because we have a lot of problems with it. Problems that involve high school and university, related with the quality and with the money.  First of all, Chile have a huge problem on University education because it is privatized, everyone who wants to study have to pay, even in the "states" universities you have to pay. For this there is a recent legislation named "gratuidad universal" that implicates giving free education to some percentage of the students (the ones who have less resources), but this benefits only a little part of the population. The other big problem with this project is because is uncertain if they are (the new government) going to keep moving to obtain a universal free on education or not. In the case of high school education there are different administrative problems related with who is in charge of the education (the state, the municipality or privates), also the quality of this

"what you see is what you get" or "never judge a book by its cover"

In the world we live today, there are a lot of social media in which we publish pictures and makes profiles and everything revolves around our physical appearance. This is why people use to say "what you see is what you get", because today is something so normal to judge someone across a picture.  However "never judge a book by its cover", is a phrase that also is often heard from the people, so which is correctly? I inclined more for "never judge a book by its cover". First let’s define both of the phrases. "Never judge a book by its cover": outward appearances don't reflect what is inside the person. "What you see is what you get": what you look like is what you are. I still believe that people is deeper than only him or her appearance, there is no connection on what you are and what you wear, even more: what exactly means what you look is what you are? What my jeans can tell to another person what kind of things I l

Technology on human nature

In this millennium  increasingly, to  every generation technology is something essential. This is so evident, for example, with the kids, they are more dependent of technology and also they are more  skillful than the adults, is so easy to them to manipulate smart phones and the internet. This, of course has pros and cons, they are a lot of points of view, but I am inclined to think that this is so harm to human nature and health First of all, is prudent to mention that today to the humans social relations technology is making a weird phenomenon, because at this time, we have the chance to communicate in the whole world, but trough a screen, this have no problem, the problems came when we stop communicating our feelings or our opinions in person, face to face and we limit ourselves to only say what is really necessary and in that case, we are losing something innate of our nature.  In a second place, there are other things about technology that are damaging our human nature, f

PEOPLE WITH PETS ARE BETTER HUMAN BEINGS

People with pets are better human beings.  As we are talking of having pets,  we can divided the world in two types of people: people who like having pets, and people who do not. Living with an animal and taking care of them make you a better human being than the people who is not interested in them. There are a lot of variables involved in having a pet, for example, the personality is more sympathetic and people are more responsible. Also there are studies that reveal that having a pet make you happier because of the love you recieve from them. People who have pets learn a lot of them and also develop the capacity of  worry about an other life, being more sympathic, because you have the capacity of thinking not only in yourself. There is probable that a person who have a pet could be more sympathic than someone who have not.

life on a remote area

Living in a remote area can make a person's life rather challenging. Challenging in some ways: first of all, everything is far away of your home, like the basic services, school, supermarket, etc. Secondly, they are more exposed to the consecuences of the weather condiction, because they are separate of the ways that provide the basic services, like water, food and health. As I mentioned on the paragraph before, the big problem of living on a remote area is the communication with the basic services. This could be a problem when you have an emergency because it would take longer time to solve it. Also is so essencial to know how to drive, because it is the faster way to communicate with the near city to have all the basic services.  On the other hand, there are a lot of advantages of not living on a big city,  like the free air because there is not pollution, there is a pacific life, in more contact with nature. For example, people that lives on little places are more

ESSAY WRITING

First paragraph Large cars create a lot of problems in our street. As a result, of their size and also because the streets were not designed for them. (this because they were made on the time cars were smaller and they were fewer cars). For example, many times they use more than one lane on the street so that generates a traffic jam (furthermore, the  anger of the other drivers). Also, the huge car drivers have problems every time because of this, for example with the parking. I have seen my uncle with this kind of problems because of having a big car

IMMIGRATION, BIG PROBLEM?

Immigration in Chile, problem? I would say big problem. Chile has become a focus of immigration in the last years, there are a lot of people that comes to or country looking for a better way of lifestyle. Today Chile does not have a clearly legislation about this topic, and that means that a lot of the immigrants have issues with the government; furthermore they live a lot of injustices. For example, they are not paid well, they live in an overcrowded situation, they are victims of discrimination, etc. I think the first thing to solve is to teach them our language (even if some of the immigrants talk the same language, most do not). Have a good communication is essential to live in society, you can feel more part of the people, you can get better deals, you will live confident,  your life will be more calm, kinder and nicer. So, how this people develop, if they do not know our language? How difficult is for them? I invite you to put on their place and try to be nicer wi

MY BIO DATA

As I am just studying on my first year of anthropology I have no academic experience to talk about, but instead of that I am going to write of other things of myself and what I have done. I am 19 years old, and I have worked twice, the last two summers. The first work I had was helping my father with a lot of projects that he had to check, the work was all December and January. It wasn’t that hard because I do it on my home and because my boss was my dad.  The second job was on my aunt’s restaurant on Chaitén, I helped her in the kitchen and also as a waitress, this job was more serious, was all February and it meant to travel far of my home. I think I can consider this as an achievement, being away of my home for a month to work, I also learned a lot, it was a really good journey. Now I am on the second semester of my first college year, I hope I can end the career and become a social anthropologist, and also study something different, like decoration.

English Language Challenges

Image
To not talk only about English I’m going to mention the whole experience this semester, but first of English. I have to say that i liked the blog dynamic , because I like to have an own blog and decorated it, I enjoyed that part, more than writing stuffs, because I think I am not an interesting person that people would like to read about my life and it is weird to write about myself. I am so glad that the classes were not the common boring grammar lessons. There are two things I would change: I think that maybe the classes could be oriented to teach as how to translate the papers that we have to read to the other subjects like the vocabulary or technical terms and stuffs like that, to make the course have a sense of really helping the students with university life. The second one is the attendance, because there are times that I have a lot of things to do, but I am afraid of fail the subject because of the attendance. Instead of that I think the course was okey. It helps me
